A Case of Ureterocele associated with Complete Ipsilateral Ureteral Duplication

Abstract
Ureterocele is a cystic dilation.. of the lower end of the _ ureter with a. variable degree of intrusion into the bladder, bladder neck or urethra. The, ureteral orifice may be proximal to the bladder neck, the so-called simple ureterocele, or it may be. at or distall to, the bladder neck, in which case it is termed an ectopic ureterocele.
Anomalies of the urogenital and other systems frequently accompany ureterocele. These include com¡þplete ipsilateral duplication of the ureter and complete or incomplete contralateral reduplication of the ureter and renal anomalies.
Symptoms are usually secondary to obstruction of the renal segment, ureterovesical, reflux, and the presence of the ureterocele mass in the bladder. When the infection cannot be controlled, or the complications are present, surgical intervention must be considered.
. Herein, we reported a case of ureterocele associated with complete ipsilateral duplication of the ureter. The case, 2 year-old male, was admitted to the Severance Hospital, Seoul, Korea with the chief complaints of recurrent episodes of urinary infection of one year duration-and treated by urete uroheminephrectomy and ureterocelectomy.
